Airport Arrival

The Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE), also known as Skyxe, offers daily nonstop flights to major destinations in the U.S. and Canada. Located in the northwest end of the city, approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Downtown, the airport offers passenger, courier, and air freight services, with the capacity to serve 1.4 million passengers annually.

 

Ground Transportation

Hit the ground running as soon as you arrive with the following convenient transportation options:

Taxis — available curbside just outside of Arrivals.

As there will always be taxis available at the airport, we recommend that you take a taxi FROM the airport to your place of accommodation, because it is the better, easier, and faster option.

 

Ride share — a designated pick-up and drop-off zone can be found on the public curb in front of the air terminal building. Uber and Riide are Saskatoon’s ride-share options, offering seamless, app-based booking.

Although Uber is the latest addition to the transportation options in Saskatoon, we do recommend it as the better option for getting TO the airport due to the convenience of the app and the cost-effectiveness of their services.

 

Car Rentals — choose from six on-site rental agencies with vehicles located just outside the terminal.

Saskatoon Transit — enjoy convenient bus service from the airport to Downtown, with connections to other routes across the city.

Please note that transit in Saskatoon only refers to bus services. There are no trains (sky trains or subways) in Saskatoon. There is also no express or direct bus to the University. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour, as the bus from the airport goes Downtown, where you must transfer to one of many bus options to the University.

The Saskatoon Transit app is great for real-time transit information. You can also purchase your bus ride tickets directly on there as well. However, for planning a bus trip, we have found that using google.ca/maps is more user-friendly.

Accessible Transportation — Accessible taxi services and hand-controlled equipped vehicle rentals are available at YXE. We recommend contacting the respective car rental agency to coordinate your hand-controlled equipped vehicle rental 72 hours in advance.   For City of Saskatoon Access Transit, visit their website here.
